Going Mobile with Learning Management

Moodlerooms has gone Mobile! This week, Moodlerooms released its joule Mobile application. With joule Mobile, smartphone users will have instant access to various features that encourage communication, collaboration and interaction beyond the classroom. This exciting addition provides on-the-go access to course information through a wide variety of supported Mobile platforms, including Apple iPhone, RIM Blackberry, Android, Symbian and Windows for Mobile.

joule Mobile Benefits:

  • On-the-Go Accessibility: joule Mobile gives students and instructors the opportunity to stay connected to campus life on-the-move.

  • Browse: Search the directory to find and contact fellow students, faculty or staff and get easy access to important numbers on campus.

  • News: Get news feeds from your campus Web site.

  • Maps: Easily locate buildings on campus and find directions using Google Maps.

  • Events: Explore public events that are posted on the campus Web site.

  • Notifications: Users can receive important messages when they are away from a computer.

  • Courses: Browse a list of your courses for each term and get info about assignments, announcements, events and grades.

  • Friends: Expand your profile to include social networking links (i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn, FriendFeed, etc.) and receive instant updates to your connections' e-mail addresses, phone numbers, photos, addresses & other contact info.

Moodlerooms’ release of the joule Mobile app is indicative of the kind of extensibility that our e-learning solutions provide. The social norms of technology use (i.e. smartphones) have driven innovation that has not only made access to learning management tools even more convenient, but enables all users to harness the capabilities of their smartphones to creatively deliver original content within an LMS.

But the question remains: how can Mobile learning continue to progress and what else would you like joule Mobile to do for you and your campus?

Let us know.
