Shelly Blake-Plock presenting at the inaugural Baltimore EdTech Forum
Last Tuesday, September 20, Moodlerooms' co-founder, Tom Murdock had the opportunity to participate as a panelist in the inaugural Baltimore EdTech Forum. Hosted at Digital Harbor High School, the forum brought together educators and entrepreneurs from across the city with the intention of discussing one of the most hot-button issues in education today--incorporating social media and networking into the classroom.
The panel, moderated by Digital Harbor High School teacher, Andrew Coy, also featured Shelly Blake-Plock, a faculty associate designing and leading courses on 21st century education at the Johns Hopkins University School of Education, and Dave Troy, CEO at 410Labs and creator of Shortmail.com. Regardless of your stance on social media, each panelist brought a unique perspective to the discussion on how to break down pre-existing barriers, welcome new models for teaching and learning, and embrace sustainable, yet affordable technologies to provide greater real-world context to lessons.
For now, we're looking forward to the next forum. If you're in the area and would like to attend, stay tuned to edtechbaltimore.org and make sure to follow @edtechbaltimore on Twitter for news on the next one. While you're at it, connect with the inaugural panelists on Twitter and check out some of the projects they're working on these days.
